Dozens of people packed the Fort Walton Civic Auditorium to show support for Senior Airman Roger Fortson and his family nearly two months after Fortson was killed by a now fired Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy. For the first time members of the community heard Fortson’s story straight from his family.
Community members, including some of Fortson’s military family were also given time to share their messages of support. “To know that he’s still being loved he’s still being recognized, they’re still fighting for him. It meant a lot to me. A lot of people keep saying strength this isn’t strength this is pain,” said Roger’s mother Chantimekki Fortson.
