Forest Hills general manager Raymond Bunquin congratulated his members for defending home court and for playing their hearts. “The Goodwill Cup is short, thus, every win counts. We are happy to get this one,” he said.

Looking to duplicate its winning performance last year, Forest Hills Golf and Country Club moved on the right track, winning at home via countback over Camp John Hay Golf Club to kick off the 2024 Goodwill Cup.

Forest Hills and Camp John Hay matched with 55 points at the difficult par-71 Nicklaus course. To break the deadlock, the organizers decided to take out the best and last scorer from the 20-player roster of each club then picked random five scores through a draw from the remaining 18. Sherwood Hills Golf Club and Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club assembled 49 and 39, respectively, to take third and fourth spots in an exclusive tournament among the Robert John Sobrepeña-led golf courses.

The next leg is set at Manila Southwoods on July 12 and Sherwood Hills on August 9. The championship leg will happen from September 5-6 at Camp John Hay.
