We have to do better than this,” she later told Guardian Australia. “Our country is better than this.”

“With Assange’s release, the truth has been set free and I know that the truth will ultimately set me free too. I look forward to winning my appeal and being reunited with my family and friends and the many supporters who continue to stand by me and who stand by the truth.”The Greens senator David Shoebridge said there was “the stink of hypocrisy about this”.

“Here you have McBride probably going to serve a prison sentence, while Assange has been in prison and he’s returned to Australia and almost celebrated by the government,” he said.Much has been written and said about McBride.
