family of a 15-year-old boy who was left with "life-altering" injuries following an abduction last year is calling for tougher penalties for youth offenders.
The boy suffered brain damage after he was attacked while walking home with friends from Glen Eira Secondary College in September last year. The 15-year-old victim was a Year 9 student at Glen Eira Secondary College. A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with armed robbery, committing an indictable offence on bail, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury, reckless conduct and theft.
He faced children's court yesterday, but the victim's mother confirmed the most serious offence of causing serious injury and reckless conduct was dropped in a plea deal with prosecutors. The victim's mother had little words to say regarding the outcome."I feel so sad, I have to accept what we got," she told reporters today."It should not be like this. My son in hospital so long and even now he still struggles.
