n an opposition to Trump's motion there is no evidence there was any inappropriate conversation between Engoron and an outside lawyer, Adam Leitman Bailey. Bailey had claimed in two separate on-camera interviews with WNBC that he had24/7 New York news stream: Watch NBC 4 free wherever you arewith the judge in a court hallway. Baily told WNBC the judge had asked him a lot of questions during a conversation about Bailey’s view that the law was not being applied properly in the Trump case.

The Trump legal team said WNBC’s reporting on Bailey’s public statements raises questions about possible outside influence on the judge. In its motion, the state attorney general's office appears to question whether an ethics investigation is ongoing, adding even if one is underway,"the mere pendency of an investigation would provide no basis to infer any appearance of impropriety.

A high-profile New York real estate lawyer – whose law license was once suspended – said he approached the judge presiding over Donald Trump's civil fraud case to offer unsolicited advice about a law at issue in the case. The state's judicial oversight body has launched an investigation into the supposed interaction. The I-Team's Melissa Russo has the exclusive story. NBC New York's Melissa Russo reports.

In their filing, the Trump legal team argued Engoron failed to notify them of"Bailey’s alleged input." Judicial ethics rules generally prohibit judges from discussing a case before them with anyone outside the presence of the parties. Legal ethics experts said Bailey’s alleged effort to try to advise a judge about a pending matter could also be investigated.
