Hundreds of people gathered outside Leinster House on Tuesday evening to attend a protest highlighting Natasha O’Brien’s case.

Assault victim Natasha O’Brien has urged victims of crime “not to come forward” as she criticised Justice Minister Helen McEntee for “living under a rock”.

“When Minister for Justice McEntee talks about how she is urging victims to come forward,” she told the assembled crowd. Elsewhere, in the Seanad, former Irish Army Captain Tom Clonan has called on Tánaiste Micheál Martin to scrap the requirement for Defence Forces officers to speak during trials. “It is within the gift of the Minister to reform this regulation. He can do it. It can be done as an administrative exercise.”
