Yu and Li's daughter died of cancer at the age of 39 in August 2022.

Yu, who rose to prominence with the song Under The Banyan Tree , appeared at Shilin District Court in Taipei with his wife on June 24 morning. “We hope to raise the two children at our home and Gary is still giving it some consideration,” Yu said. “We have not reached a resolution today and there may be another round of mediation.”

“Maybe he was confused this time and resorted to other means,” Li said, likely referring to Chen’s alleged fraud. “We will try to help him and hope he does not need to worry about the children.”
