A former Elmore County sheriff’s deputy who pleaded guilty in March to civil rights violations learned his fate during a June 24 sentencing hearing

at the federal courthouse in Montgomery.Blake Hicks, 33, pleaded guilty to depriving an arrestee of his civil rights under color of law and faced a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. On Monday, a judge ordered him to spend almost two-and-a-half years behind bars followed by three years of supervised release.
