A judge ordered them detained on $1 million bonds.in Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court in the death of Alyson Appling-France.

The indictment says that “at least one other unnamed individual” was also involved in the murder conspiracy. In the days leading up to the attack, Beasley and Bennett discussed plans to kill Appling-France, according to the indictment. On Jan. 10, Beasley and Skanes surveilled the victim’s house all day and eventually began tailing her on the road, the indictment states. Bennett joined them and observed Appling-France running an errand with her children, then alerted the others when she was headed home so they could kill her, according to the indictment.

When Appling-France arrived at her apartment, Beasley fired 17 times at her, knowing her her kids were in the car, the indictment states. He used a semi-automatic handgun modified to fire as an automatic weapon, according to the indictment. Appling-France later died at a hospital, prosecutors said.Skanes, of Garfield Heights, and Beasley, of Cleveland, were arrested two weeks after the murder., police said at the time. In January 2020, he was sentenced to four years behind bars.
