Atlantic City Councilman Muhammad Zia was handcuffed Wednesday, the second day of a civil trial contesting his residency.

An Atlantic City councilman who is the subject of a legal challenge to his candidacy was arrested Wednesday during a hearing in the case after allegedly intimidating a witness testifying against him.

Democrat Muhammad Zia was ushered from the Atlantic City Civil Courthouse handcuffed last week. He is charged with terroristic threats and witness tampering, according to court records. “Don’t f--- with me, I will f--- you up,” Zia allegedly told the witness, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday.
