River Sub LLC News

The bankruptcy filing comes eight days after a San Antonio appeals court ruled against the franchisee in its effort to set aside an arbitration award.

A San Antonio Subway franchisee has filed for bankruptcy after an appeals court left the company on the hook for a nearly $3 million arbitration award in the 2020 murder of a restaurant manager. River Sub LLC, which operates 48 Subway locations, didn’t offer details in its Chapter 11 petition about what led to Thursday’s filing. But it came just eight days after San Antonio’s 4th Court of Appeals affirmed state District Judge Marisa Flores’ ruling upholding the $2.

Subway franchise in San Antonio to pay $3 million for failing to protect employee from abusive ex Cadena’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against River Sub Ltd., another name for River Sub, in 2021. They alleged that Cadena’s manager had refused her request to transfer her to another restaurant and failed to put in place security measures, resulting in her murder while she worked alone.
