Senator Thorpe also appeared to suggest the NLC could not be relied upon to properly investigate the claims given there were"multiple issues and conflicts of interest" within the body, as she demanded an undertaking the COVID grants would be"properly" examined. "In a Senate Estimate hearing on the 7th of June, Senator Thorpe embarked on a course of questioning in which she insinuated the I had engaged in corrupt conduct," she wrote.
"Mud sticks. Once it is thrown, stories and rumours often get a new lease of life because of the further publicity that will usually be given to any response. In her statement, Ms Scrymgour alleges the independent Senator packaged footage of the June 7 hearing, including some"nasty commentary", before publishing the clips to various social media platforms.
