KUALA LUMPUR: The seventh day of Datuk Seri Najib Razak's corruption trial, which was scheduled to start at noon on Tuesday (April 23), has been delayed.

Najib's counsel Wan Aizuddin Wan Mohammed informed Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali that Najib was involved in another matter at the Court of Appeal over his application to recuse Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram from leading the prosecution in another case involving 1Malaysia Development Berhad .

"The submissions in the case is taking longer than we expected, considering the prosecution also filed for preliminary objection.Ad hoc prosecutor Datuk V. Sithambaram did not object.Najib faces seven charges involving RM42mil belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd. On July 4 last year, Najib claimed trial to a charge of abuse of power and three counts of criminal breach of trust linked to the 1MDB scandal.On Aug 8, 2018, he appeared in court again for the second time and was charged with three counts of money laundering involving the same RM42mil.
