He said rumours and conjecture caused witnesses to reconstruct memories to make them more "meaningful or sinister". Ms Wright said she had initially believed her daughter was in a relationship with Mr Geeves' teenage son and did not know the older man was the father of Ms Haigh's child until after the disappearance.
