The Ondo state government says necessary legal action will be taken on the recent judgment nullifying the creation of 33 local council development areas in the state.The 33 LCDAs were to co-exist with the 18 LGAs, bringing the total number of local councils in the state to 51.The judge held that it is illegal for Akeredolu to have signed the law in Ibadan — outside the state he governed.
“Subsequently, all necessary measures, in accordance with our laws, will be taken to safeguard the interests of our citizens, foster peaceful coexistence, and uphold the rule of law,” the statement reads. “The attorney-general remains steadfast in his commitment to prioritising the well-being and welfare of our citizens, working tirelessly to ensure that justice and the law are served.”on December 27, 2023, following a protracted battle with prostate cancer. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, was immediately sworn in to succeed him.
