A woman has slammed her 'entitled' mother-in-law for her behaviour in the delivery room when she was giving birth to her first child, saying it 'nearly ruined her marriage'

A woman has shamed her 'entitled' mother-in-law for storming into the delivery room during childbirth to ensure she was the first to hold the newborn. She vented on Reddit about her mother-in-law's manipulative tactics, accusing her of wanting to be the "main character of every story" and deceiving her husband into letting her into the delivery room at the eleventh hour.

The woman explained that this behaviour not only jeopardised their relationship but also nearly destroyed her marriage. She continued: "I've seen her in many situations that were other people's important situations and she will do literally anything to get in the middle. She has made a fool of herself more times than I can count. I'd say it's some combination of selfishness and a blinding drive to be the most important person in every room.

She recalled: "My mother-in-law and sister-in-laws told me that they all had all the family in the delivery room the whole time. Even for checks and during pushing. This included my father-in-law and the brother-in-laws." Her husband attempt to negotiate a compromise initially but eventually acknowledged that he too would be shown the door if he didn't establish firm boundaries. In response to her story, one user reacted: "Gobsmacked. First time to hear of all the male relatives being spectators, as well."
