GEORGE TOWN: It has been five years since Karpal Singh’s death but family members still choked with emotion as they celebrated the anniversary at the Wadda Gurdwara Sa­­­­hib in Gurdwara Road.

Present are Gobind, Kit Siang, Jagdeep and Mankarpal Singh Deo.It has been five years since Karpal Singh’s death but family members still choked with emotion as they celebrated the anniversary at the Wadda Gurdwara Sa­­­­hib in Gurdwara Road.

Also present at the celebration yesterday were Karpal’s widow Gur­­mit Kaur, 70, and their other children including Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.Last month, Chief Judge of Malaya Zaharah Ibrahim, who chaired a seven-man panel, said there had been a serious misdirection by the High Court and Court of Appeal.

In 2010, Karpal was charged with questioning the late Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah’s action in re­­mo­ving Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as the mentri besar during the 2009 Perak constitutional crisis.
