The top Donald Trump ally has vowed to appeal his contempt of Congress conviction all the way to nation's highest court.

Former White House strategist Steve Bannon's hopes to avoid serving prison time by appealing to the Supreme Court look doomed to fail, according to a legal expert.Joey Jackson, a former New York state prosecutor and a legal analyst, made the remarks as the top Donald Trump ally is appealing his four-month sentence after being found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress.

'The appellate court was not persuaded and denied relief to Navarro—just as they will likely do with Bannon. There simply is no novel claim for the full D.C. court to assess nor for the Supreme Court to entertain,' Jackson added.Newsweek contacted Bannon's legal team for comment via email.Despite being sentenced nearly two years ago, Bannon has not spent any time in prison, pending the result of his various appeals.
