Attacks on the LGBTI+ community were common in Zimbabwe under the regime of the late former President Robert Mugabe.

This follows the besieging of the headquarters of the Association of LGBTI people in Zimbabwe, commonly known as Galz, in Harare earlier this week.

More than a dozen protesters claiming to be from an unknown church group besieged Galz head office in Milton Park in Harare, singing, dancing and denouncing homosexuality, before spraying anti-gay graffiti on the office walls. Last month members of the Methodist church in Harare demonstrated at their church offices against their leadership's acceptance of homosexuality.Samba said,"There is a sense of organising against LGBTI people in the country at the moment. Because this incident, however isolated it may be, we are also dealing with new reports that are coming from our Masvingo provincial offices to say that similar things have also been pasted on their walls as well.
