Infant Formula,Abbott,Investigation

The Dept. of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General released a report about the FDA's investigation into Abbott baby formula contamination.

Twin girls Chloe and Caylin Pasco survived a rare pregnancy as monoamniotic twins. Their mom, Sarah, said finding proper formula for her babies has been a challenge recently.

The report detailed how the Food and Drug Administration’s inspection and recall process should be improved to ensure the safety of the infant formula supply. Specifically calling out the the FDA on how they took more than 15 months to address a February 2021 Abbott Facility whistleblower complaint. To make sure a shortage never happens again, Peters introduced a new bill the first week of June called "Protect infant formula from contamination," or PIFCA Act.“What happens now which makes no sense to me is any of this product is tested, but its after its already in the marketplace," Peters said.
