Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted he is expecting Man City to fail in their legal challenge against the Premier League – with the case set to be “squashed”., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed City may claim a “short-term” win by attacking and distracting from their 115 outstanding financial charges, which are due to be heard in November.

The champions are suing for damages as they accuse top-flight rules of being anti-competitive and discriminatory towards the Gulf states.
