Single parent Rahman tells how she is fighting to get her home back after her Airbnb renters refused to leave.

A woman in Durham, North Carolina found her home overrun by squatters after listing the property on Airbnb, and now the uninvited guests are telling the homeowner she needs to take them to court to get them to leave.Airbnb is routinely used by homeowners and renters for both short and long-term stays, but Farzana Rahman had no idea what type of renters would come her way when she got a booking request for October 25, 2023 to May 24 of this year.

'They're sending me messages such as please get help for your safety and get whatever legal help you have to get to get them out,' Rahman said.Newsweek reached out to Airbnb for comment via email.On its website, Airbnb warns its homeowners that allowing renters to stay for a month or more means they could end up having difficulties removing the guest without court mandates.
