The AbaThembu royal family has welcomed justice minister Michael Masutha's application for the pardon of jailed king Buyelekhaya Zwelibanzi Dalindyebo.

Dalindyebo is serving an effective 12 years in prison, imposed by the Supreme Court of Appeal in October 2015. The sentence was handed down for three counts of arson, three counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, one count of defeating the ends of justice and one count of kidnapping.

According to the kingdom of AbaThembu, Dalindyebo's absence had led to divisions within the AbaThembu nation. He said on his return Dalindyebo would have the task of building and restoring the dignity of the AbaThembu nation.

It's long overdue

The concept of royals and kings is outserved in modern society. I serve no king.

He need to stop thinkin his above the law though.....

King must be free

Seems like all you need do these days is promise the ANC to vote for them to have your relatives released from jail, what a wonderful democracy do we have - corrupt!!

Why can't ordinary South Africans be pardoned you must have equal justice for all

Free my King now or we will vote EFF and DA qha iyavakala ityiwa emnqushweni 😂😂😂

And they must not forget fees must fall activists

Keep him locked up. Criminal for sure

Election campaign strategy.

He's been taken through our legal systems and found guilty. He's a criminal and deserve to be in jail.

The president and the Minister should push the concourt with judgement of case CCT 44/18 this will make things easy for them.

Elections must be Yearly. FreeKhayaCekeshe

Let him out I'm sure he learned his lesson and will respect ppl!!!

This Masutha guy

ANC campaigning

Free my King. He didn’t belong there anyway..

Desperate times by ruling party Kings are above the law

Let this be the lesson to him never to over excercise his so called authority

I thought that this King was found guilty in a court of law?

What happened to Shabir must be seen to be done to others. Someone whose wife worked for the NPA was also pardoned. Those who oppose the King's pardon please raise your hands for amputation

anc getting desperate. May8

Why can't he sit in jail like everyone else who committed crime. This is rubbish. Our brothers and sisters are serving time while some chiefs are given preferential treatment. Totally unfair.

Elections ....

The king must sit in jail and serve out his time. Surely his voters must know who is correct political party to vote for? They do not need the king for that 😁. Democracy 😁😁

Sy moer

Good.

All equal before the law in SA?

This Royalty crap in democratic country is completely ridiculous. Another ill conceived compromise in 94. The sooner people decide to live in a modern democracy, the better.

After elections the application will be dropped nothing will happen. Anc is just buying time till elections

MmusiMaimane the king is a card carrying member of Our_DA for the second time we ask, do you support the move or not Gogo helenzille that k.... Might be pardon

Buyele khaya Dalidyebo vayakudinga.

I wonder why other Kings are quite about the imprisonment of His Majesty because soon it'll become a trend. Queen Elizabeth can never be imprisoned. Don't tell me about the constitution and law. Our Kings are thecastodians of who we are. We all know about a 'snake' and its head.

Release him so that he can work for the anc

Politicking...

He's not above the law, Let him serve his full sentence like everyone else
