Nottingham skatepark murder trial live updates as youths accused of hurling fatal brick

CCTV footage has been played in the courtroom, which shows a group including the 13-year-old defendant, two girls that were allegedly insulted by Mr Edwards and four others, arriving at Sussex Street Skate Park just before 6.30pm, Gordon Aspden, prosecuting, has told Nottingham Crown Court. Mr Edwards, who was 6ft 8in tall, is shown making his way towards the same skatepark with his friend Lyam Wright 15 minutes later. The 13-year-old defendant then leaves the area At 6.

“We suggest this is him propositioning them and making sexual remarks,” Mr Aspden said. One of the girls is shown making a phone call, which prosecutors said was to the 13-year-old defendant’s number. Footage shows him and two other lads return to the skatepark to meet the girls. Mr Aspden points out a confrontation then began between Mr Edwards and the group. Howitt is shown getting off a tram wearing a hood and mask, says Mr Aspden as he narrates the footage.
