An argument over allegations of the sexual harassment of a 17-year-old escalated into a fatal shooting last week, according to court documents.

Don Durant Solomon, 63, faces a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of Byron Thompkins in the parking lot of a motel in the 10300 block of Gardner Road, near West Northwest Highway.

Solomon was booked into the Dallas County jail on June 3, according to online jail records. It is unclear if he has an attorney.About 9:25 p.m. June 2, Thompkins confronted Solomon over allegations that Solomon was sexually harassing Thompkins girlfriend’s 17-year-old daughter, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.

Several minutes into the argument with Solomon in the motel parking lot, Thompkins briefly walked away and returned, the argument resumed and a witness drove up near the two men and began speaking with them.Thompkins then approached Solomon who pulled a handgun from his pants pocket and shot Thompkins once in the chest about 9:36 p.m., according to the affidavit.Thompkins ran into a motel room, where his family met him and called 911.
