The investigation into charges of torture against three police officers has been completed, the Wynberg Magistrates' Court heard on Friday. Colonel Delmore Manuel, Constable Jermaine Conradie, and Constable Leigh-Ann Maroon made a brief appearance in the dock before their case was postponed.

The investigation into charges of torture against three police officers has been completed, the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court heard on Friday.

Manuel, Conradie and Maroon were arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate on 22 April in Mowbray, Cape Town. The accused face charges of unlawfully and intentionally committing torture by ‘assaulting the complainant Igiranieza with fists, a baton, pepper spray and a plastic bag in order to obtain information from him,’ according to the court’s charge sheet.
