Suhakam acting chairman Jerald Joseph said Razali had strengthened the profile of Suhakam and stood firm on principles of human rights with his support for the efforts and stand of the commission.
“This included participation in international treaties which will ensure that the protection of basic rights can be incorporated into laws. “This also covers his unceasing dedication in fighting for social and institutional change which is required for the protection of a just and fair Malaysia for the people regardless of race, religion or belief,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Joseph said Razali’s experience at the international level and his association with the United Nations was something much needed by the commission in its undertakings. — Bernama
