The federal court has ruled James Cook University unlawfully sacked a Townsville marine scientist who criticised his department's climate change research.

Dr Peter Ridd was dismissed by the university in 2018 after being issued warnings over comments regarding his colleagues’ research on climate change’s impact on the Great Barrier Reef.
