Two people were taken into custody after a standoff with law enforcement in Palm Coast, Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly announced Wednesday afternoon.

2:50 PM EDT June 5, 2024 hourslong standoff with law enforcementA Flagler County deputy responded around 6:40 a.m. to a disturbance call on Forsythe Lane in reference to an individual who had blocked the road with"junk" and was playing loud music, the sheriff said.

Staly said the suspect came out of his residence twice and resisted law enforcement. Both times the suspect came outside, he was hit with a rubber bullet but still was able to retreat inside, the sheriff said. The sheriff said law enforcement used a fortified machine to clear debris from the suspect's property and took down the garage door and front door.The sheriff added the suspect never communicated with law enforcement during the course of the incident.He said another person inside the residence came out, resisted law enforcement, was hit with a rubber bullet and arrested.
