Patriotic compliance: Court orders Gayton McKenzie to cooperate with corruption probe

PA leader Gayton McKenzie has lost a court bid to compel him to cooperate with a corruption investigation related to his 2022 Sandton fundraiser.Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie has been compelled by the Western Cape High Court to cooperate with an investigation into allegations of maladministration, fraud and corruption when he was the mayor of the Central Karoo District Municipality.

The case was brought by investigators following their appointment by the Western Cape MEC for local government to probe a 2022 fundraiser McKenzie held, intended to support service delivery in the region, but failed to deposit the raised funds into municipal coffers. News24 previously reported while McKenzie was mayor in 2022, he sought the municipality's permission to hold a fundraising dinner in Sandton to fund his 100-day promises he made during his inauguration speech.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
