A man who has pleaded not guilty to dozens of charges denies he told storm victims he held a builder's licence.

Andrew Perez, 36, has given evidence on day two of a hearing into charges of fraud.A man accused of defrauding two tornado victims in New South Wales has appeared in court to defend his dealings with the couple.

The couple's home and sheds at Meadow Flat between Bathurst and Lithgow were destroyed by a tornado which hit the Central Tablelands in September 2021.Mr Perez, who is not in custody, appeared via audio visual link as part of a criminal hearing in Lithgow Local Court on Tuesday. Mr Perez was also questioned about evidence the couple gave on Monday that he had told them he was a licensed builder.The court heard details about various money transfers made to and from Mr Perez's accounts which he said were for building materials and labour.

"You said that the McKinnons' money was allocated … how did you deal with money from other clients," Mr Gauja asked.Mr Perez also gave evidence about the money he spent on surveyors and engineers as part of the McKinnon's house build, as well as payments he made for supplies.
