As Greg Lynn’s record of interview with police wound down, there was little left to say. He had taken the detectives through how Russell Hill and Carol Clay met their demise and the steps he’d taken to cover up the deaths.
Lynn replied: “I’m innocent of murder. I haven’t behaved well, I’ve made some poor decisions, but murder, as I understand it, I am innocent.” Missing persons squad detectives Andrew Stamper and Brett Florence outside Sale police station in 2021.In the recorded interview, Lynn said that after he realised Hill and Clay were both dead he started a methodical plan to cover up what had happened at the Wonnangatta Valley campsite on March 20, 2020.Lynn told police he set fire to the pair’s campsite and then bundled the bodies into his box trailer, and drove through the night until he arrived at Union Spur Track.
“This had the potential of enabling me to live a normal life if I were to cover it up,” he told police.“And then you knocked on my door.”
