Lawyers for two teenagers who threatened to carry out a school massacre tell South Australia's Supreme Court they should be immediately released because they have done their time.

Mr Boucaut urged Justice Kevin Nicholson to impose a sentence that would see his client immediately released from prison, and told the court that he had"done his time".

"It's fair to say the gravity of the offending and the manner in which it was received in the community has caused him to reflect and certainly given him an understanding that it's completely inappropriate behaviour to make threats of this nature. Representing the younger teen, Steven Millsteed QC said his client had already served an"exceptionally long time" in detention for a youth. He said his client was embarrassed by his offending and had written a letter of apology to the school and wider community."Enough is enough, he should be able to go home.

He said he had no intention of using guns to harm anyone and just wanted to pose with them on social media so that others would see him and his co-defendant as"people to be reckoned with".
