Sherri Depasqua, Steven Murphy, and Clarissa Kiessling were charged with child endangerment in Aug 2023 in relation to the handling of Iris Mummert’s case.The charges were dismissed by a judge under and immunity clause that protect caseworkers from liability in some cases. According to court documents, caseworkers “acting in good faith shall have immunity from civil or criminal liability.”“The burden of proof in prosecution for criminal charges is a big one,” Bezar said. “You have to imagine a caseworker, in order to be criminally charged, had some form of intent or disregard for the welfare of a child.”
