The Centre For Citizens With Disabilities has called for better policy and legal framework on disability rights and climate change.
CCD’s Acting Director, Godwin Unumeri, said the presentation was supported by the Disability Rights Fund . He said it was organised to share findings of the research which was informed by the need to understand challenges experienced by Persons With Disabilities , their coping strategies, and how the state government can include them in formulating climate change policies and interventions.
In her presentation, Chukwudum described the report as a baseline comprehensive assessment of the specific needs, barriers, and opportunities for PWDs in the context of climate variability and extreme events. Lagos State Government has kicked off a free medical outreach aimed at providing essential healthcare services to 25,000 residents across 24 locations in the state.
