The only problem being just that — he was driving, on camera, during the Zoom call, stunning the judge and his legal team.This all started with Corey Harris, who had a scheduled hearing in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 15 in a case involving driving with a suspended license.
After introducing herself, the assistant public defender said that “Mr. Harris should be via Zoom.”But it didn’t take long for District Judge J. Cedric Simpson to notice that Harris donned a seatbelt in the“Actually, I’m pulling into my doctor’s office,” Harris replied. “So just give me one second I’m parking right now.”
Based on his reply, it was painfully obvious to those in the court what was going on. The Zoom cameras panned toward the public defenders, who visibly looked disappointed.Others sitting in the back of the courtroom were seen attempting to hold back their laughter.Harris took his time to park the vehicle and once he did, Harris’ legal team requested an adjournment of the case for up to four weeks.“Okay, so maybe I don’t understand something,” the judge began.
