NEW YORK - The U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday sued South Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor Co, an auto parts plant and a labor recruiter, over illegal use of child labor in Alabama.
Reuters reported in 2022 that children, some as young as 12, worked for a Hyundai subsidiary and in parts suppliers for the company in the Southern state.CalPERS is among the top 30 investors in Tesla and owns 9.5 million shares, according to LSEG data. In a post on social media platform X, Musk responded by saying that the U.S. pension fund "broke the deal.
Firms could mitigate the potential impact of the European Union finalising its investigation into China's electric vehicle sector by building production facilities in the likes of Turkey, Serbia and Hungary, but analysts also warned Beijing to look out for stricter countermeasures from the bloc.
