Donald Trump's legal team failed to 'confront' two potentially key bits of evidence while delivering their closing arguments to the jury in the hush money trial, a legal expert said.Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance suggested the former president's lawyer, Todd Blanche, needed to fully address two 'powerful' pieces of evidence from the prosecution in order to convince the jury Trump is not guilty of the falsifying business records charges.
'This was the prosecution's linchpin evidence, and the defense didn't offer the jury a good reason to reject it.'Vance added that the defense fell short with regards to 'hammering home problems' on the prosecution's star witness Cohen, a vocal critic of the former president who was previously jailed for lying to Congress and faced accusations of committing perjury during previous court appearances.
