FILE image. Thousands of South Africans and Foreign nationals march on May 24, 2008 through the centre of Johannesburg to protest against ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.
From March 25 to 27, mobs armed with metal rods and machetes broke into the homes of foreigners in Durban on South Africa's east coast, chasing them out and looting their belongings, HRW said. Others had no choice but to return to the same informal settlement they had been violently chased out of. "To deter those who attack foreign nationals, there is an urgent need for effective policing, arrests, and prosecutions."Widespread condemnation of the violence prompted emergency talks between South Africa's foreign and police ministers, Lindiwe Sisulu and Bheki Cele, and diplomats of African countries.HRW also urged politicians to refrain from statements that"scapegoat migrants and feed anti-foreigner violence," ahead of May 8 general elections.
But they never call for arrest of foreigners who attacked police officers, attacking police it's like attacking the state
Why are we watching this idiot instead of the Alex meeting
SA is producing graduates every year and no jobs. So the graduates want to work in farms n as hse keepers bcz the are the easily available jobs. Chinese are taking over n enriching their country n that is fine bcz they have a light skin. It's shame hw black think.
It's sad bcz black South Africans only attack black foreigners n mainly their neighbors n politicians are using foreigners as a campaign tool. SA poverty was not brought by foreigners. Don't use foreigners as a scapegoat to cover mismanagement of the economy.
To me it appears like SA leadership enjoys to see foreigners being attacked and killed. Their stuff looted. They do nothing about it. They must just come clean n say everyone with a foreign background leave SA weather documented or not.
