Earlier this month, Good, chair of the pro-MAGA House Freedom Caucus, traveled to New York as part of a contingent of Congressional Trump sycophants to make a public show of his support for the former president during his trial. Good, along with his primary opponent John McGuire, even hitched a ride in Trump’s motorcade. . “We’re here to defend him and to tell the truth about this travesty of justice, this political persecution, this election interference, this rigging of elections.
On Tuesday, ahead of closing arguments in the trial, Trump went out of his way to bash Good in his public endorsement of McGuire. “Bob Good is BAD FOR VIRGINIA, AND BAD FOR THE USA,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He turned his back on our incredible movement, and was constantly attacking and fighting me until recently, when he gave a warm and ‘loving’ Endorsement – But really, it was too late.
Trump is attacking Bob Good, despite how he attended Trump’s trial two weeks ago in support of him. Virginia’s House Republican primary is scheduled to take place on June 18, with early voting having already opened. The race between Good and McGuire has already devolved into a heated battle over the candidates’ Republican bonafides, and Trump putting a last-minute finger on the scale could very well cost Good his seat.
