Ontario's battle against Ottawa's carbon tax gets underway in the province's top court today.

The province's Progressive Conservative government has denounced the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act as an illegal tax grab that will drive up the price of gasoline and heating fuel.

The climate change law applies in provinces that have no carbon-pricing regimes of their own that meet national standards, and Ottawa says the legislation aims to "fill in the gaps" where provincial measures aren't up to snuff.

Taxpayers fighting taxpayers - winners - lawyers

Taxpayers are funding Ford's challenge, When he loses, we'll know where to send a bill for misspending tax $$ for both this huff & puff court case and the misappropriation of government staff time and salaries to a thinly-disguised political campaign.

How do i deal with another trump!?

wasting our money once again fordnation

Trudeau=daddy’s name+mommy’s brain

Waste of $$

And the government of Ontario is using our tax dollars for this nonsense. Shame on you Doug Ford.

ford is a bafoon

Answer this question please,if this tax is excellent for all Canadians PM, then increasing the tax must be even better for all of us right? If this tax rate is excellent then collecting more money must be even better right? Does anyone even care there’s no “tax cap” mentioned?

People would have to be extremely narrow minded to believe a tax is the only solution for climate change. No law says all provinces have to accept the Feds chosen solution. In fact, the fed. Gov. implemented the tax before Ont.had a chance to try their own plan, unconstitutional.

Great picture. One man fighting to keep Ontario competitive. The other laughing at something or other (he laughed at the death of Marissa Shen, so it could be anything he’s smirking about) Starting tomorrow Alberta joins he fight!! We shall overcome carbon tax corruption!

Finally, Canada is global example for climate action /via globeandmail

fordnation wasting more time and taxpayer money

Good luck Ontario. This will set precedent for other provinces that want to run their own plans.

Such a waste of time and taxpayers money.

Dung Ford just wasting tax payers money away. Wonder what the state of Ontario will be after his idiotic self gets kicked out.

Hey Ontario, not only are we being forced to pay for Ford's stupid action that has absolutely no chance of winning, we also have to contribute to the federal government's defense. But hey, buck a beer Amirite!

Go get em Doug...

Ontario Gasoline taxes (Assume $1 per litre) 13% HSTax 10% Excise Tax 15% gasoline tax 5% Carbon Tax 43% total taxes. 43 cents Taxes on $1.00litre at pump 43c/57c (cost of raw gas) =75% TAX Why didn’t other 70% of Tax on gasoline save the planet or will 4th 5% Tax do it.

This constitutional challenge -- a total waste of taxpayer money -- has as much chance of winning in the courts as I do of becoming the next premier of Ontario ... & I would do a better job of it with both hands handcuffed behind my back ... a fate Double-Dealing Dougie deserves.
