As Lehrmann lost he has to pay the costs of the two respondents. The court heard the former Liberal staffer has not worked since 2021 and lacks the means to pay, so it is possible that the network could still be saddled with the bill. “I can assure you life is too short for me to worry about costs disputes but I want to make sure it goes off to the referee in a way where it’s not going to go off the rails,” Lee said.
“There’s just an ongoing reluctance to pay us anything,” Wilkinson’s barrister Michael Elliott SC told the court.
