President Ramaphosa will strengthen South Africa's stance against gender-based violence and corruption by signing two crucial bills into law.

According to the Presidency, the National Council on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide Bill marks a pivotal advancement in safeguarding the welfare of women across all sectors of society.

This council will serve as the statutory body tasked with providing strategic leadership in the fight against gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa. This Directorate, set to absorb the existing Investigating Directorate, will possess investigative capabilities prioritising severe criminal or unlawful conduct, especially in cases of serious, high-profile, or complex corruption, commercial, or financial crimes.
