'I am glad the interviews went well': Ramaphosa to finalise Maya's appointment as chief justice

President Cyril Ramaphosa says he will finalise his appointment of Deputy Chief Justice Mandisa Maya as South Africa's next chief justice soon.

Speaking to the media after a Siyanqoba mini rally at the Kamhlushwa Stadium in Tonga, Mpumalanga, on Wednesday, Ramaphosa said he was"glad" the He said:"I am glad that the JSC has decided to, as reported, nominate and recommend that Justice Maya should be appointed as the Chief Justice. This follows my nomination to them, and I am glad that the interviews went well. I am now awaiting the letter from the Chief Justice to report to me what transpired at the JSC.
