As Scarlett Johannson threatens legal action over ChatGPT's voice, OpenAI CEO's trustworthiness is once again being called into question.

When OpenAI’s board fired Sam Altman in late 2023, the board members said he “was not consistently candid in his communications.” The statement raised more questions than answers, indirectly calling Sam Altman a liar, but about what exactly? Six months later, creatives and former employees are once again asking the public to question OpenAI’s trustworthiness.

Last week, Altman said he was “embarrassed” about not knowing his company forced employees to stay quiet about any bad experiences at OpenAI for life or give up their equity. The lifelong non-disparagement agreement was revealed by a Vox report, speaking to one former OpenAI employee who refused to sign it. While many companies have non-disclosure agreements, it’s not every day you see one this extreme.
