Linda Reynolds and Brittany Higgins set to head to trial in defamation case after mediation talks between the pair fail again
The Senator on Tuesday arrived at the West Australian Supreme Court for a second round of talks after a closed-door session in March proved unsuccessful, with Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz reportedly appearing via video link. "Unfortunately it appears at this stage we will still be heading to trial in July," she said, before a representative for Senator Reynolds explained mediation had been adjourned with no new date set for further talks.
Senator Reynolds said she was"disappointed" about Tuesday's outcome, although she said"all parties" needed to acknowledge the rulings of Justice Michael Lee, who found in his judgement against Mr Lehrmann there had been no political cover-up of Ms Higgins' rape claim. "And I think it is time that all parties in this accepts all of his judgments. And that includes Finance Minister, Attorney-General and the Attorney-General's department.
