APRIL 12 — The parallels between the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court controversy and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination are quite obvious.
Doing so is seldom good for any government. A government that keeps changing its mind will be seen as weak, indecisive, and unable to execute its own vision. If acceding to these treaties can create a big, immediate and positive impact on the day to day lives of ordinary Malaysian citizens, then certainly, we should pursue the goal with the utmost haste.Doing things at a more measured pace also allows for more time to consult with all the relevant stakeholders and the public before making a decision.
The right to be consulted is after all one of the three classical rights accorded to a constitutional monarch.
We should move on from this. RS is a history. Never again.
Did EMIRresearch fellow ever concur for all the other universal humanitarian treaties dat Msia is a signatory member, was there a significant impact on the lives of Malaysians or just another formal participating chore 4 show? Was there any rush to observe treaty to begin with?
It cud b d other way round, too, i.e. it was deliberately rushed 2 rile up d rkyat 2 reject. Now govt can claim they want 2 reform but d rkyat & some other parties r d obstacles.
