PM Scott Morrison has confirmed Australia is providing consular assistance to Julian Assange following his arrest in London but says the Wikileaks founder will receive 'no special treatment' assange

but the Wikileaks founder will receive "no special treatment", even in the wake of a US extradition request.

That extradition request, on charges related to the publication of vast quantities of classified information by Wikileaks, is forthcoming but will be fought by Assange's lawyers.Mr Morrison said a request for consular assistance was made overnight and was being handled by consular officials. On Thursday evening Mr Morrison met Foreign Minister Marise Payne, who spoke with the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, George Brandis, about the matter.

"He won't be getting any special treatment from Australia, he'll be getting the same treatment that any other Australian would get." "When Australians travel overseas and the find themselves in difficulties with the law, they face the judicial systems of those countries," he told the ABC."It doesn't matter what particular crime it is that they're alleged to have committed, that's the way the system works."

Return Assange to Australia. Protect Julian from the US who commited war crimes. The US, who encouraged soldiers of PTSD to commit criminal activities.

The publisher who exposed USA helicopter massacre will not get a fair trial in USA FreeAssange

No special treatment, we should always do better to support and protect our citizens.

Ah yes the man who avoided prosecution for sex offenses......yes great guy...

Maybe they should get the 60 minute make over team in first. I’ve seen homeless guys who present better

I should bl**dy well hope not.

Assange has flipped on his word by claiming he would leave the Embassy on a number occasions if certain conditions were met only to change his mind in the last minute when those conditions were met. His hand has now been forced and he will face the music like everyone else.

What about interfering with US election? No excuses or exceptions.

Scomo will not break step with the US. Democracy, you say ?

Of course! What did you expect from America’s puppets in Australia?

How history will judge us. Great Australian Anti-Heroes in History! 1. John MacArthur 2. Peter Lalor 3. Ned Kelly 4. Frank Hardy 5. Jeffery Robertson 6. Julian Asssnge

Time to protect him from the US. The bully boys want to make an example of him for exposing their dodgy dealings in dodgy conflicts around the world. Bring him home

Puppet..

ScottMorrisonMP help this guy out! He is standing up for what is correct!

Stand up to the USA! Show you have some balls. This man should not be done for exposing war crimes. What you are all exposing now is that we are bullied by the US and that war crimes aren’t an issue. Disgusting totalitarian tyrannical behaviour. FreeAssange ProtectJulian
