Four other former Brisbane-based Transurban employees have also filed court claims against the company this week, all alleging they were dismissed in contravention of general protections Mr Brothers alleges “the purported reason” for his termination was that he had failed to enter multiple days of leave, including annual leave and personal leave, without reasonable explanation during the COVID-19 pandemic between April 2021 and October 2022.
But Mr Brothers alleges the “real reason” he lost his job was due to complaints and inquiries made to Transurban from November 2023, including a whistleblower complaint made on January 9, 2024.The claim says Mr Brothers participated in a confidential survey known as the Transurban Pulse Survey in November, in which he made complaints related to leadership, inclusion and wellbeing.
