The trial of Auburn police officer Jeff Nelson is underway nearly five years after the shooting death of Jesse Sarey, 26, outside a convenience store.

Opening statements in the case began Thursday morning, but the judge has already dismissed one juror over issues that were brought up before openings were set to start.
